Buriti palm trees (Fluxuosa Mauritius) is an infallible sign of existence of water in the region.
The fruits that fall into the water are transported by it, helping to disperse the species throughout the region.

Rich in vitamin A, B and C, buriti fruit provides calcium, iron and proteins. Consumed in traditional way, natural, buriti fruit can also be transformed into various things (jams, juices, liquors and desserts).

The oil extracted from the fruit has medicinal value (natural wormer, cicatrizing, and energetic) for Cerrado common people. Buriti substances will also participate to improve the color, flavor and quality of different beauty products.
Leaves produce fibers used in crafts (handbags, rugs, jewelry, etc).

Young leaves also produce a very fine fiber, buriti “silk”, used by craftsmen in the manufacture of pieces made with golden grass.
