The word chapada means mountains.
The village of Lençóis appeared in the discovery of diamond deposits around Mucugê the mid-eighteenth century.
It is located at an altitude of 394 meters.
Currently, the village remains one of the major tourist attractions of the Chapada with roughly 120,000 tourists a year.
Needless to say, the nature lovers will find many wonders, but with some cons-binding parts.
