Serra do Cipó is a protected national park (APA - Área de Proteção Ambiental Morro da Pedreira) located at the north of the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte and is part of the Cordilheira do Espinhaço (in its southern part).
Since few years, this part of the Serra do Cipó, at the foot of the village of Lapinha is open to tourism and is accessed by a dirt track. This region of the Serra do Cipó has two peaks, the Pico da Lapinha which lies at an altitude of 1686 meters and its neighbor, the Pico do Breu barely above.

Habitat : Any type of terrain of cerrado Flowering : September to March Description : Plant of roughly 1 meter in height. The leaves are hard and appear throughout the stem. The flowers are formed at the top of the rod in the form of a "ears". The sepals welded shaped chalice of the same color as the petals.
